One of the aims of Berwick 900 was to foster links with people regionally, nationally and internationally who have family associations with Berwick-upon-Tweed.

The Berwick 900 Family History Festival was a highlight of the Berwick 900 programme in October.  It was part of a project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and involved a team of local volunteers researching stories of local families and individuals with connections to the themes that were central to the Berwick 900 celebrations.
